The rate for the ^7Be(p,γ)^8B reaction in the Sun is quite important in extracting information about solar neutrinos from several solar neutrino detectors. We are developing a new technique to determine this rate by measuring the Asymptotic Normalization Coefficient (ANC) for the ^7Be+p arrow ^8B system. The technique involves measuring the angular distribution in a (^7Be,^8B) transfer reaction and then normalizing it to a DWBA calculation to extract the ANC. We have recently carried out a preliminary measurement of the ^10B(^7Be,^8B)^9Be reaction at an incident energy of about 13.5 MeV/u. The ^7Be beam was produced by separating reaction products in MARS following the interaction of a ^7Li beam, from the TAMU K500 superconducting cyclotron, on a H2 gas target. A nearly pure beam of ^7Be was obtained at the focal plane of MARS where a ^10B target was placed. Elastic scattering and reactions were observed in a Si detector telescope that viewed the beam particles interacting in the target. Preliminary data for the ^7Be elastic scattering and the (^7Be,^8B) reaction will be presented. Future plans leading to the extraction of the ANC will be discussed.
