Photographic images of 3C 120 and a 45 x 25-deg region around it are presented and analyzed. The images were obtained on IIIa-J emulsion at the KPNO 4-m reflector and processed (with varying degrees of stretching and isocontouring) using the techniques described by Arp and Lorre (1976). Features observed include (1) an outer optical disk with fragmented segments directed toward the center, (2) a long arm of separated knots to the W and SW, (3) a peculiar companion object in line with the NW radio jet, (4) a 0.75-deg-long nebulous filament pointing toward 3C 120, (5) hydrogen clouds 3 and 1 deg from 3C 120 (z = -130 km/s and -210 km/s, respectively), (6) 11 low-surface-brightness galaxies (z = 4500-5300 km/s) within 8 deg, and (7) seven QSOs (z greater than about 1.35) within 10 deg. It is suggested that the ensemble of dissimilar-redshift objects around 3C 120 may have evolved from ejections from it, or that both 3C 120 and the surrounding objects were ejected from a nearby (low-redshift) Local Group member.
