Two related sets of three-dimensional plasma sheet models were generated by first sorting ten years of data into the observations made within each of 160 spatial boxes. The measured plasma and field parameters in each box then were simply averaged to create the models. Data for one series of models were selected according to the time intervals before or after substorm onsets during which the observations were made. The other series was based on data that were selected according to the values of solar-wind/magnetosphere coupling functions averaged over various time intervals preceding the observation time. Results will be discussed for a few of the parameters that exhibited qualitatively different changes at different x, y or z locations for the substorm onset models, or that showed a sensitive dependence on the box location or on the averaging periods used for the coupling function models.
