The Galileo spacecraft reached Jupiter on December 8, 1995. During its six year voyage Galileo encountered six celestial bodies. Accurate determinations of the spacecraft's orbit prior to passing these bodies played a critical role in delivering Galileo to Jupiter successfully and for yielding new findings. The navigation of Galileo past each of these bodies is discussed and illustrated and the spacecraft's discoveries at each encounter summarised.
