The capabilities of the Nd-YAG laser for optical intersatellite links
have been experimentally demonstrated. The experimental setup is
described and the heterodyne ASK receiver sensitivity is reported. The
receiver exhibited a degradation of -5.6 dB compared to the shot noise
limit.
