We request 84 hours of Parkes time to complete the search of all 6.7 GHz methanol masers detected in the Parkes Methanol Multibeam (MMB) survey for associated 12 GHz methanol masers. This search is scheduled to begin in 2008 June and when completed, will be the largest, most sensitive search for 12 GHz methanol masers ever completed and, unlike any previous similar searches, will be targeted towards an unbiased sample of 6.7 GHz methanol masers. Completion of the 12 GHz methanol maser search in the 2008 OCTS semester presents a rare opportunity to compare many spectra of the 6.7 and 12GHz transitions from a near single epoch, allowing meaningful intensity ratios of the transitions to be determined. We anticipate that the results of these observations will allow us to further explore and strengthen the results of a pilot search of a subset of 6.7 GHz MMB detections for 12 GHz masers completed by Lewis (2007). The data collected will allow us to investigate the relative evolutionary stages of massive star formation that the two transitions are tracing and study the physical conditions that are responsible for the presence or absence of associated 12 GHz methanol masers.
