It is seen that even the most sophisticated models of the solar corona cannot compensate for the absence of information on the actual distribution of nonthermal energy sources and on the mechanism of solar wind acceleration. An attempt is made to obtain the missing information from an analysis of observations of the sporadic radio emission from the sun. Results obtained from solar radar observations are discussed, along with the conclusions that may be drawn for the solar wind problem from these observations.
