The general solution of the Laplace equation in ellipsoidal coordinates which satisfies Stackel's theorem is derived. A physical interpretation is given which includes the description of the shape and dimensions as well as the density distribution in a material body which has the same gravitational force function as that given by the general solution for the Laplace equation.
