Nova Velorum 1999 {V382 Vel}, discovered on 1999 May 22, is the ninth brightest classical nova in recorded history, and probably the brightest nova that will occur during the HST mission. In this Director's Discretionary program, We will obtain a series of STIS UV spectra of Nova Vel as it fades, in order to study elemental abundances, velocity fields of the ejecta, ejecta masses, and energy budgets.
