Observations made by the 6-m telescope at Zelenchuk Special Astrophysical Observatory, the largest optical telescope in the world, of the structure of ionized interstellar hydrogen emission in M33 are presented. The galaxy was observed using an F/1 focal reducer at the F/4 primary focus, resulting in a resolution of 2 arcsec. It is found that the filamentary structure of the H II is a general phenomenon, the frequency of which tends to decrease from the spiral arms to the interarm regions and disappear beyond 4 kpc from the galactic nucleus. Bubble-shaped H II regions, which were previously observed to increase in mean diameter with distance from the nucleus, are found to be less spherical in shape the nearer they are to the nucleus. The formations are attributed to processes of rapid expansion represented by supernova explosions and stellar winds.
