A geodynamo of model-Z type is presented. A characteristic feature of such a model is that, even if core-mantle coupling is weak, it has a significant effect. A nonstationary solution was obtained in which the axial dipole strength varies periodically. By comparing the period of this oscillation with the archeomagnetically observed period, the electrical conductivity of the earth's core was estimated.
