Analytical yield spectrum approach has been used to study the degradation of electron energy in the upper atmosphere of Neptune and subsequent emissions of H2 bands. Photoelectron fluxes, auroral electron fluxes, and volume excitation rates for the Lyman and Werner bands of H2 have been calculated. The subsolar H2 band intensity on Neptune produced by photoelectron alone is expected to be 20 R. Based on electron precipitation and using energy flux of Uranus (0.9 erg/sq cm per sec, it is predicted that auroral H2 band intensity could be about 900 R at Neptune.
