Preliminary results on the detection of airglow wave structures in the nightglow with an infrared all-sky imager at the optical station of Maimaga (ϕ=63°N λ=129.50°E geographic) within the framework of participation in the International Program Planetary Scale Observing System (PSMOS) are presented. The analysis of data obtained in March, 1999 shows that the small-scale internal gravity waves propagate predominantly westward. The observed wavelengths vary from 15 to 35km (average value is ~25km), the horizontal phase speed observed is between 14 and 59ms-1 (average value is ~36ms-1) and the estimated periods are 7-19min ( average value is ~12min). The activity of short waves (wavelengths shorter than 17.5km) has been found to be rather weak in comparison with observations at lower latitudes. Also, unlike the isotropic distribution for the direction of propagation of these waves found at lower latitudes, the waves of that range propagate in the north-west direction during the time period of observation.
