Plasma and magnetic field data have been widely used to determine the orientation and velocity of flux ropes, such as MVA, HT Analysis, Multiple Triangulation Analysis, Spatio-Temporal Derivative analysis. Here in this study, we use the plasma data to track the movement of magnetic field lines (MFLs). With a good HT frame, the plasma can be treated as ideal MHD fluid, thus the plasma velocity component perpendicular to the MFLs indicates the movement of MFLs. Eliminating the effect of whole movement of flux ropes both along and perpendicular to the flux rope axis, there are notable velocities residual along various directions. These residual velocities may imply the radial evolution of flux ropes: radial expansion or contraction. Further study on more flux rope events is under progress.
