The nitrogen abundance in the atmosphere of the metal-deficient ([Fe/H] ≍ -0.3) K giant γ1Leo was determined from the analysis of the NH molecule spectrum (λ ≍ 336 nm) by the spectrum synthesis technique. With Kurucz's model with Teff = 4500 K, log g = 2.0, [M] = -0.3, vt = 2.4 km/s and the dissociation potential D0(NH) = 3.37 eV, the authors derived [N/Fe] = -0.1. The absence of nitrogen overabundance together with a low 12C/13C ratio in the atmosphere of γ1Leo is in conflict with the standard theory of stellar evolution.
