We present new orbital analysis on the HR 8799 planetary system. We have obtained additional astrometric measurements using adaptive optics on the Keck II 10 m telescope in 2009, and have improved our previous astrometry using an updated distortion solution for the NIRC2 camera. We fit Keplerian orbits to the planets in this system and find based on astrometry alone, without any stability analysis, that the planets have inclinations within 7° of each other to a probability of 97%. This argues for formation in a common disk plane. The value of this inclination of ˜150° is consistent with other work showing that HR 8799 is not viewed exactly pole-on and with requirements that the system must be inclined at roughly this level to achieve stability. We also find that the planets have 3σ upper limits on their eccentricity of ˜0.4. Combining the astrometrically-allowed orbits with dynamical stability requirements allows us to place constraints on the possible masses of the planets.
