Abell 1201 is one of a pilot sample of clusters from the Chandra archive with well-defined cold fronts. In addition to a pair of cold fronts, it has an offset peak in its X-ray emission that coincides with a clump of galaxies at the systematic velocity of the cluster. This is a strong candidate for the remnant core of a subcluster that is merging with Abell 1201 on an orbit close to the plane of the sky. Together with extensive optical and radio data, deeper Chandra data will permit the effects of the merger on the cluster and the remnant core to be studied in detail.
