It is generally assumed that magnetic fields inside interplanetary magnetic clouds are force-free. In order to interpret such fields, the solution of rotB = αB is used where α = const. Direct comparisons of this solution with observations show significant differences in magnetic field magnitude profiles in magnetic clouds. To treat this problem, we examine the solution with α ~ repsilon in cylindrical co-ordinates.
