The detection of molecular cloud condensations associated with the cold atomic gas phase in HI clouds can indicate current or impending star formation. Such detections have been made in the Magellanic Bridge proving that molecular cloud formation can occur in relatively tenuous (NHI = 1.67x1021 cm-2), low-metallicity environments. To date there have been few cool gas (absorption) studies of the Magellanic Stream, and none to detect CO. In February 2007, the ATCA was used to search for evidence of HI absorption in four HI Stream clumps. Significantly a detection was made in the interface region proving that cool gas is indeed present in the Stream. We propose a follow-up search for CO at the location of the cool gas detection.
