Molecular Clouds: Formation

In this article we introduce a theoretical study on the formation of molecular clouds. We have examined the thermal and dynamical evolution of the interstellar medium using linear stability analysis and one and two-dimensional nonlinear calculations. We find that geometrically thin cooling layer behind the shock front fragments into small cloudlets. We propose that an origin of "Turbulence" in the interstellar medium is the motion of small cloudlets complex.
