The paper reviews recent work done at the Ionospheric Physics Laboratory of the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Attention is given to the continuous recording of signals from ATS-6 in the context of measuring the Faraday effect and group delay, interpretation of photoelectron measurements on Cosmos 261 and 348, and the effect of solar X-ray flares on the absorption of radio waves in the lower ionosphere. Attention is also given to work done in solar physics at Wroclaw Laboratory of the Institute of Astronomy of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
