The theory of gravitation and the theory of elementary particles are designed to describe the most fundamental physical events. Both theories are governed by symmetric principles, space-time symmetries and symmetries in an internal space. These symmetries can both be combined to the so-called supersymmetry: Gauging of this symmetry leads to the theory of supergravity, a theory which could be a quantum field theory capable to describe all principle interactions.
