Modified methods for estimating the energy of the incident particles in high energy cosmic ray collisions are proposed and their validity is demonstrated in accelerator experiments with known beam energies. The Castagnoli method (Castagnoli et al., 1953) is modified and the PT method is modified, wherein a constant value of the average transverse momentum (equal to .35 GeV) of the produced charged particles is assumed. It is shown that both the Collective Tube models (Berlad, Dar, and Eilam, 1976) and the Independent Particle Fragmentation model (Dar, and Vary, 1972) lead to the same energy estimate for particle-nucleus collisions as well as the same energy estimate for nucleus-nucleus collisions.
