Exact solutions of the Einstein field equations in the spherical case are derived and applied for constructing a model representing a spherical mass immersed in a cosmological universe. A comoving, spatially homogeneous system of coordinates is utilized, and a convenient definition of the mass of the system permits the complete and exact integration of the field equations. First and second-region solutions are obtained and classified according to the values of two parameters, one which appears to be related to the structure of space-time and another which is a generalization of the Schwarzschild mass for an immersed sphere. Physical interpretations of the solutions are discussed.
