Electromagnetic Waves: General Relativity

Scientific paper

A class of Einstein-Maxwell fields is presented that describes many interacting electromagnetic shock fronts in succession. This generalizes the well-known Bell-Szekeres solution for interacting single electromagnetic shock waves. As a physical significant result the authors show that the fold singularities can be pushed away arbitrarily by the choice of the degree of freedom brought in by the new wave fronts.
