Simple means of testing stationary axisymmetric solutions for the interior of a rotating body are presented. The tests examine the behavior of the red-shift observed at infinity for photons emitted in a locally nonrotating frame as the frame nears the center of symmetry from different directions; the locally nonrotating frame is simply defined to eliminate as much as possible the effects of rotating mass. Applications of the tests to the Kerr metric as written in Boyer-Lindquist coordinates, a metric proposed by Hogan (1976), and a second interior Kerr metric are given.
