The author discusses statistical characteristics of the infrared spectra
of cool stars with circumstellar dust envelopes on the basis of both
near-infrared photometric data and IRAS data. He tries to trace the
evolutional sequences for oxygen-rich (O-rich) and carbon-rich (C-rich)
cool stars, respectively.
