The suggestion by Fritzsch and Minkowski (1975) that neutrino mixing may account for the solar neutrino puzzle is examined. The existence of a coherence length for neutrino oscillation is noted, and the likelihood that the maximal suppression possible due to mixing will occur is discussed. It is argued that if the neutrino mixing is to produce a large suppression factor (exceeding 5), a very specific scheme is required to ensure that suppressions very close to maximal value possible will be obtained. It appears that such a scheme could supply a much more natural explanation (require much less of a remarkable coincidence) than most other explanations of the solar neutrino puzzle.
