The cosmological evolution of the standard model dilaton-Higgs system is considered. We solve the dilaton equation of motion and find the condition for the thermalization and the freeze-out of dilatons. It is shown that the energy density in the subsequent dilaton oscillations is diluted by the large entropy production of the delayed electroweak phase transition. Hence the standard model dilaton is cosmologically safe.
