The generation of density perturbations from stress perturbations is investigated in the radiation-dust universe, in which the universe changes smoothly from radiation-dominated to dust-dominated. It is shown that the amplitde of the generated density perturbations is of the order of the amplitude of the original stress perturbations, when the density perturbations come within the Hubble horizon. It is also shown that the generation predominantly occurs while the universe is radiation-dominated even if the stress perturbations continue to work after the universe has become dust-dominated. These results hold irrespective of the type of the stress perturbation, isotropic or anisotropic.
