We address the problem of the minimization of the scalar potential with respect to the hidden field in the framework of N=1 supergravity with a particular class of nonminimal scalar couplings which leads to flat potentials and thus a sliding gravitino mass. We show that a tree-level determination of m3/2 is possible through an interplay of both visible and invisible sectors. Different types of effective theories are finally derived.
