Stellar core-collapse simulations in spherical symmetry with energy- and angle-dependent neutrino transport fail to reproduce some important observables, including the supernova explosion and element production. Simulations in multiple spatial dimensions with energy- and angle-dependent neutrino transport are currently under development, with the goal of providing theoretical understanding of the supernova phenomena most closely associated with core collapse and explosion.
