Absolute transition probabilites have been obtained for the bands of the Herzberg I, Chamberlain, Herzberg II, and Herzberg III systems of molecular oxygen. Weighted mean transition probabilities corresponding to the nightglow vibrational distributions of Slanger and Huestis (1981) have been determined for the Herzberg I system (15/s), the Chamberlain system (0.89/s), and the Herzberg II system (1.0/s). The absolute transition probabilities for the Herzberg I, Herzberg II, and Chamberlain systems are greater than previously supposed.
