Atomic mass is one of the fundamental properties of nucleus. Precise mass measurement for nucleus helps to understand the nuclear structure and improve the nuclear models. Masses are also very important for understanding astrophysical processes. In our universe, about half of the elements heavier than iron must be synthesized in the rapid neutron capture process, the r-process. The masses of the neutron-rich isotopes are critical to network calculations of the astrophysical r-process. Spontaneous fission of 252Cf is one of the easiest way to obtain the neutron-rich isotopes. The Canadian Penning Trap (CPT) Mass Spectrometer at the ATLAS facility of Argonne National Laboratory is a perfect apparatus to make precise mass measurement for such neutron-rich isotopes. This talk will report precise mass measurement for 26 neutron-rich isotopes of Ba, La, Ce and Pr.
