Consideration is given to the gravitational force within the primordial spherical array of neutrons believed to have existed at time zero of the big bang. It is shown that the fundamental equation of cosmology implies that the gravitational constant is increasing with the radius of the universe, and that the Newton gravitational constant at time zero, when the radius of the universe has been calculated to be 7.2 x 10 to the 14 cm, must have been equal to 2.4 x 10 to the -21 erg cm/g per g. This infinitesimally small value would then not have been sufficient to prevent the instantaneous flying apart of the neutrons in the original spherical configuration, which gave rise to the big bang.
