We intend to show how the amplitude of the tidally induced flow in the Earth's fluid core is perturbed by the elastic yielding of the shell. Some possible variations of the resonance process as a function of the mantle mean rigidity, core geometry and size, and friction at the core-mantle boundary are investigated. The influence of the secular deceleration of the Earth is briefly considered.
