It is shown that the choice of an initial state of a quantum oscillator
does not involve an increase in sensitivity exceeding previously known
estimates. The search for an optimum initial state of the gravitational
detector in general form is defined, and it is shown that the
sensitivity can be appreciably increased by using parametric pumping.
