The role of spectral resolution and of instrumental sensitivity in
astronomical spectroscopy conducted from aircraft is discussed. One
cause of difficulty in changing atmospheric transmission is the
variations in water vapor content above the aircraft. A main source of
uncertainty in measurements is the modulation of the observed signal.
