We report first detection of the 336 and 389 GHz ground state rotational lines of doubly deuterated ammonia obtained in the L1689N molecular cloud using the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory. The hyperfine splitting is detected in both lines allowing the determination of the line opacity. The LTE column density of ND2H in L1689N, derived assuming an excitation temperature of 5K and an ortho-para ratio of 2:1, is 1.5±0.7×1014 cm-2, implying a relatively low ND3/ND2H abundance ratio of 1.7±0.9%. These values can be significantly improved with more detailed modeling of the ND2H and ND3 radiative transfer.
