We analyse the morphological content of loose groups of galaxies contained in Geller and Huchra's (1983) catalogue, according to the morphology of the first-ranked member. The population of the ellipticals in the groups with a first-ranked elliptical member turns out to be significantly higher than in the other groups, independently of the density, as estimated from the compactness of the groups as well as the distance from us. Furthermore, the fraction of ellipticals seems to be more strongly correlated with the local galaxian density for the groups with a first ranked elliptical galaxy than for the others.
