We review recent observations of the Galactic center (GC) interstellar
medium (ISM) at medium and far infrared wavelengths made with the
Infrared Space Observatory (ISO). ISO has made important contributions
to our understanding of the heating of the warm neutral gas and the
properties of the ionized gas in the GC.
