Galaxies: 3C66B, Massive Black Hole

Scientific paper

Supermassive black hole binaries (SMBHBs) may exist in the centers of galaxies. These systems may be revealed by periodic behavior in the observed light curves. Sudou et al. (2003) announced the observation of an SMBHB in the radio galaxy 3C66B whose core shows a defined elliptical motion with a period of ~1 yr. Here, we focus on the information on the SMBHB parameters that can be obtained by X-ray, γ-ray and radio observations. In particular, future ALMA observations will help in further constraining the 3C66B SMBHB orbital parameters.
