Tracking a satellite entails obtaining a Two Line Element (TLE) set, which is a vector that pinpoints a previously known position and velocity of the satellite. This data is used to predict the current position and velocity of a satellite using the SGP4/SDP4 models. These models include effects such as the ellipticity of the Earth, drag due to solar radiation pressure, drag due to upper atmospheric gas density, and gravitational interaction with the Sun and the Moon. Transfomation from SGP4/SDP4 coordinates to the Telescope's coordinate system will be discussed.
