The goal of these tests is to determine whether multiple reads hasten the reduction of image persistence from infrared photons and cosmic rays. Cosmic ray persistence presently affects a significant fraction of NICMOS data, especially for data taken in SAA-crossing orbits. If multiple reads are determined to be successful in reducing persistence, this situation will be greatly improved. The current version of the proposal contains the visit for the infrared photon persistence test {Visit 1} and the visits for the cosmic ray persistence test {Visits 2-5}.
