The program will observe Jupiter for two HST orbits to look for lightning. The PC will be used with the narrow band H-alpha filter to maximize the contrast between transient lightning flashes and the background reflected sunlight. This will follow up earlier Voyager and Galileo detections of lightning and demonstrate the HST capability to study the phenomenon systematlically.
