Intrinsic UV absorption lines in QSOs could identify ubiquitous and relatively massive gas components near QSOs. Most of the absorption lines are blueshifted and clearly form in high-velocity ejecta, but little else is known about the physical nature of the absorbers. Several low-redshift QSOs and Seyfert 1 galaxies exhibit blueshifted absorption lines plus continuous soft X-ray absorption due to highly ionized gas {the so-called "warm" absorber}, which has lead to speculation that the UV and X-ray features identify the same environment. We propose STIS observations of the "associated" {za ze} lines in a small number of QSOs with redshifts {0.5
