The spatially extended K band light from high redshift {z 2} radio galaxies cannot be dominated by stars. These objects are giant reflection nebulae rather than ``galaxies''. Ground based multi-color polarimetry has recently shown that these objects are highly polarized { 40 in K band. There is a minimum in the polarization as a function of wavelength P{Lambda}, consistent with models of dust scattering. The observed position angle of the polarization vector also changes systematically with wavelength, which could be due to dichroic extinction alone or with grain alignment. Our previous HST optical imaging polarimetry shows a coherent {non -tangential} pattern in the polarization field over very large {10 kpc} scales. This proposal is for HST NICMOS imaging polarimetry of three high redshift radio galaxies known to be highly polarized at K band. HST's greatest superiority in the infrared over ground based techniques is in infrared imaging polarimetry of faint objects. The observations will allow us to {i} characterize the morphology of the reflection nebulae and the associated polarization field {ii} infer the distribution of the dust {e.g wind vs. dust halo} and some of the properties of the dust, {iii} place constraints on the underlying stellar population of the host object and {iv} investigate the ramifications of these objects for galaxy formation and evolution. A coordinated parallel observing program is also proposed.
