Theory Of Quantized Fields
Scientific paper
We formulate quantum field theory for a wide class of accelerated space-times in four dimensions and describe its thermal properties in terms of analytic mappings. We demonstrate that four-dimensional Rindler space uniquely satisfies the condition of global thermal equilibrium, while spaces which are asymptotically Rindler have thermal equilibrium asymptotically. We discuss the renormalization of the quantum energy-momentum tensor with application to situations in two, four, and ν dimensions and specifically refer to the general result for conformally flat two-dimensional space-times. Covariant and noncovariant regularization schemes are presented and compared, and we make an improvement to proposals for covariantly regularizing the stress tensor by point separation.
