DDO 187 is an irregular dwarf galaxy that is just resolved into stars from the ground. Approximately half the galaxy appears to be making stars, as evidenced by the bright blue stars. The observations should show the entire galaxy, and the 2 filter observations should show the marked color contrast among the brighter stars that is the signature of the star forming region. This should give a PRETTY PICTURE. There should be well exposed stars all over the WFPC2 field, in the 2 most commonly used filters: this will attest to the FOCAL QUALITY after refurb, as well as provide the astronomy community with data to fine tune the PSF models for analysis of data. The data shall also be analysed to reveal how star formation has progressed in DDO 187, a topic of considerable scientific interest.
