The properties of waves below the proton gyrofrequency in a homogeneous, nonrelativistic multicomponent plasma in a uniform magnetic field are examined. The dispersions of ion waves and wave vectors pointing at orbitrary angles relative to the ambient magnetic field in proton-electron and proto-helium-electron plasmas are studied using the WHAMP code of Ronnmark (1982, 1983). Ion wave instabilities and propagations caused by temperature anisotropies and loss-cone instabilities are analyzed.
